About Jason
My name is Jason Benell and I am running to represent West Des Moines on the Dallas County Board of Supervisors. I am running because our county is experiencing an explosion in growth, which brings unprecedented possibilities for us in central Iowa. This means electing leaders that are focused on the future with equitable and sustainable growth, a welcoming and inclusive culture, responsible taxation, and collaborative development across the entire county. Dallas County needs leadership willing to step up and guide us toward a future that attracts cultural as well as business development while also making Dallas County a destination for Iowans to remain and call home.
About me: Growing up, I was an Army brat, having moved between multiple countries before landing right back right here to central Iowa. I attended Moravia High School in Moravia, Iowa, a town so small that we envied those other towns that had a stoplight. I completed a combat tour in Iraq during OIF III and after my deployment, I settled in central Iowa where I attended and graduated from DMACC and Iowa State University. I am proud to live in West Des Moines, Iowa with my wife and two children where we have set down deep roots in this great community.
Our communities are what make us strong and what make places like central Iowa a great place to call home. Having lived a life of service, I intend to put that commitment to my community to work by helping lead Dallas County into a better and brighter future. With an established record of serving others from my military service to my longtime volunteer work many nonprofits across central Iowa, I am determined and dedicated to making Dallas County a better and more welcoming place for all. I want to ensure places like Dallas County remain a beacon for the rest of the state with a place where my kids and yours will want to stay for generations to come.
