Issues
Ensuring a sustainable and robust conservation program throughout Dallas County is key. Many sources of drinking water flow through our county; ensuring safe water is a priority for today and tomorrow. This also means developing and protecting outdoor areas like parks, bike trails, and nature preserves across the county.
Equitable growth is a key measure necessary for the future of Dallas County. We have outgrown the systems of yesteryear; it is time to expand and look forward with new initiatives and collaboration with the towns and municipalities across the county. Partnership with city leaders will be key to a strong county as restrictive state tax policy will require leaders to collaborate on solutions rather than focus on competing interests.
Transparency in government is extremely important. A government ought to reflect the values of its constituents, and this means transparency, accessibility, and communication. The Board of Supervisors should enhance its ability to engage with the community by holding more meetings, offering more communication methods, and increasing public input opportunities. Citizens shouldn't ever feel left out of decisions or surprised by an outcome and the Board of Supervisors is responsible for facilitating that access.
